Call Center
T-Mobile®
Lenexa, KS
The call center in Lenexa, Kansas is a 50,000
square foot facility for over 300 operators. It includes a kitchen,
workout room and offices in addition to the operator workstations.
SSC provided the original mechanical and electrical system designs
for the call center as well as subsequent upgrades to the facility,
including installation of an on-site emergency generator.
A
1200 amp, 480/277 volt, 3 phase, 4 wire electrical utility service
provides normal power for the call center; a 750 KW, diesel-driven
generator provides emergency power for the entire building; and,
a 125 KVA uninterruptible power supply provides uninterruptible
power for selected critical loads.
Fire alarm, security and data systems as well
as exit and emergency lighting systems are also installed.
Installing an electrolytic ground rod to provide
a lower resistance to ground enhanced the grounding system for
the facility. Additionally, a grounding halo was installed in
the battery room for improved bonding of the electrical equipment.
Ground bars were also installed under the raised floor in the
computer room for ease of equipment bonding.
Six
25-ton rooftop units provide air conditioning for the call center.
A programmable energy management system provides variable air
volume control. A smaller 5-ton unit provides specific room conditioning
for the battery/UPS room and a dedicated 15-ton packaged air
conditioning unit cools the computer room.
