Fiber Optic Facilities Retrofit

In 1998, Selective Site Consultants, Inc. (SSC)
was retained by Fluor Daniel, Inc. to assist in site selection
and design of switching/regeneration fiber optic facilities for
the Qwest Communications'® nationwide project
in the northeast and southeast U.S.
The facilities consisted of existing multi-story
buildings that had to be retrofitted to accommodate the project
requirements. Facilities were located in New York City, New York;
Newark, New Jersey; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Jacksonville,
Florida.
Each facility required substantial structural,
electrical, mechanical, fire protection, and grounding analysis
and design. For each facility, SSC prepared Programming Study
Reports that delineated the structural, electrical, and functionality
aspects of the overall Qwest's design requirements. SSC also
prepared building retrofit layout.
