elective Site Consultants has extensive  experience in the design of a wide variety of facilities to serve the telecommunications industry.

Towers

Design of raw land and co-locate sites is fairly straightforward. For raw land sites, grading and drainage design is provided for the compound as well as for the access road. For co-locate sites, it is critical to obtain accurate field dimensions, especially if the site is a bit tight.  It is also important to note whether an existing entry port and/or waveguide ladder is available or if a new one is to be provided.

Creative Solutions

Whether we route coax through an apartment attic or conduits through a false gutter on the outside of an office building, sometimes we have to be creative with our design solutions. During the site visit, we brainstorm with the client and landlord to come up with a conceptual design. It may mean building an interior chase, providing antenna screens to match the penthouse, erecting a shelter that looks like a ticket booth, replacing a cupola on a fire station, burying coax conduits, cantilevering a steel platform from a stairwell wall or installing antennas in a church bell tower. Whatever the case, we are comfortable with thinking outside the box.

Rooftops

The challenge on rooftop sites is not only locating the equipment or shelter, but also determining the route for power, telco and grounding. The structure must be evaluated for supporting the weight of either outdoor equipment or a light-weight equipment shelter. If building drawings are not available, structural mapping must be performed.
Power, telco and grounding sources must also be identified and a route found between the source and equipment. A thorough rooftop site visit will normally take between two and three hours.

Tenant Improvements

Rooftop sites using indoor equipment require an equipment room within the building. In addition to the normal rooftop design challenges, we also provide architectural, lighting and HVAC designs for a complete set of construction documents.

Other

Besides the standard raw land, co-locate and rooftop sites, SSC has successfully completed a variety of other types of sites including underground vaults, steeples, flag poles, light poles, utility structures, water towers, grain elevators, smokestacks and stealth sites.
